If singer Paulini Curuenavuli has had a rough day she isn't showing it.
She's been up since the crack of dawn and won't finish until after late in the evening, but she's still smiling.
This week marks the release of Curuenavuli's first single Rough Day off her second album Superwoman, to be released in March.
While Curuenavuli is enjoying the hype surrounding the highly-anticipated single she admits to being anxious while wearing stilettos and a super short nightgown in the Rough Day video clip.
"I have always been conscious of what other people think," the 23-year-old said.
"I have to be comfortable with everything that's happening around me otherwise I just switch off.
"I went through that when filming Rough Day. Wearing those clothes isn't normal for me.
"The video clip is totally different to my others and I just felt really nervous in front of everyone. It was a huge challenge."
The exceptional singer, who rose to fame after coming fourth on Australian Idol in 2003, says changing her image from ordinary girl to sassy had to happen.
"I really wanted to expand on the whole image thing and give it an edge. It has been great to get away from that safe image I had before."
The idea of the clip was to show Australia's modern-day lady of soul having fun.
"I told the producers I just wanted to take the piss and make it really funny," she smiles.
"I want people to know that I am not always serious and that there is a funny side to me as well. I am just like everyone else."
As well as her image Curuenavuli also wants to rid herself of the Australian Idol tag.
"I want to get away from it," she said.
"Idol did give me a platform to stand on and I am grateful for that, but now I am going to do it myself."
The down-to-earth star says she is feeling the pressure of releasing a second album.
Her debut album - One Determined Heart - was launched on the back of Idol giving her a selling boost.
Curuenavuli hopes those same people will get behind her again.
"This second album feels more like a product of me and I have put my heart and soul into it," she beams.
"This album is make or break for me. People would have bought the first one because they saw me on Idol and this depends on if the fans are there or not now and if they like my music.
"I just hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it."
