First ones in the place - got table right by the stage.
Later saw Lisa Murray at the next table - went over to say hi, and saw she came with Dapo! He was supposed to have a studio session but it got canceled so he came! Was so cool meeting them both.
The show - of course, amazing. The crowd seemed to be loving him. Not going as crazy as fans would who knew him, but they seemed to be loving it. Bring Yourself was a highlight for me - serious chills. Before singing Jealous Guy he told a story about how he's living in this house that John Lennon once lived in. But he had a major plumbing issue where poo was coming up in the sink. The plumber came, and his pipes were clogged with roots and poo from the past 30 years. So he was excited to think John Lennon's poo was in his pipes haha. Guy invited everyone to join him at the bar across the street after the show.
After the show gave Guy my gift - he was pretty blown away and grateful.
Went across the street with a friend to hang at the bar. Eventually Guy and his posse came - I saw Jules and stopped her to talk. Had a nice chat with her - so sweet. Asked her about more gigs, but she said they didn't know of any yet - were waiting to see feedback from this one. Later had a long talk with Guy. He thinks the album will be released June or maybe July, but they're still not sure what the first single will be. It's crucial for the success to be done the right way. He doesn't think AOL is the best first single, since it's so different from the rest of the album (I told him I think it's the perfect one, since it has Jordin and also everything immediately responds to it). He thinks for that one to work they need to promote it on a show like AI or X-Factor. I told him Jordin won't be available to do that for a long time, what with her tour and then Broadway. He didn't know about her doing Broadway haha. He really was hoping she could be in town to sing with her tonight - I guess he didn't think to CALL HER haha. I don't think she even knew he was doing it tonight - I tried to tell her, but I don't think she reads her tweets lol. He's back down under in a week and a half, then not back here until after the tour. Most exciting news for me is he will at least meet David Archuleta most likely - David has a writing session coming up with Dapo soon and Guy wants to go and hang out! Hopefully they will wind up working together yay! I also found out Guy is living just a few minutes from me. Maybe I'll run into him at the grocery store sometime lol. |

Hotel Cafe in LA on Monday June 7, June 8 at Sainte Rock Hermosa Beach, CA, and House of Blues San Diego (free!!) San Diego June 10 next week. Don't miss this guy, he's the one that the famous Steve Cropper said "he's the voice we've been looking for.."
Sainte Rock MAY livestream, not sure what the freebie one is about but how good is THAT!

And there is an awesome interview / podcast from Icon... will have to look for the link and put it here. Both Sheena and that guy are so taken with him, his interviews and his sheer talent. Sheena came onto his facebook and left message too, wants him back on her show, to sing live.
