"I just recently came back from New York and played for the executives of Sony
Music...... and we went out and did a little showcase last Tuesday. We played for
the executives of Sony. They were totally overwhelmed. And we’re just waiting by
the phone. To see when they’re going to call and say “Ok we’re going to release
the record in the States”."

You might remember that Guy did a gig in OZ last year, at which one of the very top Sony US execs just happened to sit in, and who was so iimpressed he wanted him to come to the US. Steve was only too happy to accompany Guy to the showcase  :P

Great article in the new WHO magazine, the Oscar special which really is just that. Well done, Who.

With thanks to Brenda for these awesome scans

You can see a smidge of both his tatts (first one done a couple of years ago, not as large although its still a major tattoo but tends to be almost hidden by T shirt sleeves. Guy has almost always rolled the ends of his sleeves up, a fashion statement of his) EDIT.. in the scan you cant see the tatts, I'd forgotten that. But in the article, one can.

for the other part of the article.

Of course since he twittered re the latest tatt, with photos, media has tended to grab the photo and story and last count we had 7 articles up. The photo is available through Guy's twitter its certainly impressive. A couple of the tattoo blogs have caught it too, as the photo (taken by the tattoo parlour perhaps ?) is beautifully clear. Hope thats it for his tatts on the arms though, I'm not a fan of John Mayer's full sleeve

Rhonda - February 27, 2009 10:23 PM (GMT)
Great article wasnt it.

The BEST PLACE in NYC to see/hear the BEST TALENT in NYC 02/16/2009 Posted by bjbarratt

I almost hate to tell you how great this place is...It's already too popular now. Rightfully so, and it's ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC. Ken Rockwood has managed to turn a closet into a concert hall of sound and Tommy, the booker, has a knack for booking THE BEST talent in NYC. The Regular bar staff is super friendly - it's like stepping into the perfect little sphere of live music. The only problem is that with perfection comes popularity and with popularity comes big crowds including music industry peeps - one thing that becomes a drag at the already TINY venue. A small price to pay for an intimate night with truly amazing musicians.

Pros: Best sound system and mixing for live venue/ intimate/ GREAT artists

Cons: Very, very small often very crowded, but SO worth it

You don't pay to get in, instead the venue passes around a hat and collects money for the act after each finishes.

They're going to need quite a large hat after Guy finishes ;)

Jeans been and left her thoughts on the show

-------------I'm so glad Bianca was listening and giving you all updates on my wonderful experience. I could not have done it without her. I am so glad you enjoyed it with me. May I share a few personal notes with you. It was a day I will always remember. Arrived in NY at 5:30 p.m. instead of 12:30 p.m., but arrived at Rockwood at 6:30, in time to place the flyers on the tables. Steven and I were the first to arrive.

The place was surprisingly smaller than I expected. I'm glad I couldn't sit where I initially wanted to, because the seat I chose was perfect - less than 10 feet from Guy and facing him. I met Victor - was glad that he and Steven clicked immediately - they spent the evening watching Guy AND THE LADIES. They thought Angela was a stunner.

Then Victor said, is that Guy outside and it was. I met Guy coming in the door, stopped him (ballsy) and told him who I was and that I'd come all the way from North Carolina and wanted to meet him. He was so gracious and I was immediately at ease with him. He said he would talk to me. Then he went on stage and began to set up.

He is "pretty" to say the least, but I think that Guy's persona is what sets him apart and draws us to him. He was so gracious to everyone there, so down to earth, so sweet, and just so good! He has such a sweet spirit about him and it permeates the entire room. I was mesmerized by him and didn't mind holding the camera for 43 minutes and 39 seconds (Steven was watching the ladies).

Bianca told you the rest and it was so, well it's hard to articulate. Afterwards, I stopped him coming out the door (ballsy again) and he signed my four pictures of him (the one where he's seated on the stool with the red guitar). He was in a hurry to meet the Sony people, but took the time to ask me my name, how to spell it and wrote a personal message on my picture. Then he gave me a big hug and thanked me for coming. I was totally satisfied. I gave him a small photo album of Sweetie Pea (my grandson). I'd been waiting for months to experience it and then it was happening so quickly. I don't think I took it all in immediately.

It was apparent that the majority of the people were there to see Guy and there was an atmosphere of friendliness in the room, especially after he took the stage. His singing was flawless. I have to tell you that I wasn't a bit surprised. I truly expected Guy to be just the way he was - perfect.

Afterwards Victor and I met the Street Team Lead from Connecticut. Thank you all for introducing me to Guy.

I believe his name will become a household word in America too. A funny thing happened to me on the way home today. I was on the plane from New York to Atlanta. And I began to play my mp3 player. As I began to listen to COMH, I started to cry. I wasn't sure why really. I guess it was a culmination of my journey to finally see the person who sang that song on my computer a year ago and inspired me to comment on Youtube, "When is he coming to America." The attendant on the plane asked me if I was alright because I couldn't stop crying. But they were tears of joy and thankfulness to God for allowing me to experience Guy Sebastian.

I want to thank all of you for that too. Hopefully, within the next day or two, I will get the video downloaded. Please forgive the picture, it may not be perfect

here's a report for SXSW

QUOTE
Guy Sebastian Wins The Tough SXSW Crowd
by Paul Cashmere - March 20 2009

Remember that chicken-wire bit in the Blues Brothers movie? Well, Guy Sebastian didn’t sing behind chicken wire this afternoon in Austin but he did face a tough crowd.

Let me put SXSW into perspective. You are playing to primarily an industry audience. They may or may not have heard of you when you hit that first note, but by the end of the first song you better make it matter or it’s all over.

Idol was a reality TV show. SXSW is reality. It can be ruthless. You impress or they are unimpressed in your first three minutes.

Today I witness Guy Sebastian capture a lethargic crowd. The audience at the Sounds Australia event had three priorities:

A: drink free booze
B: network with their peers
C: Listen to music

I kid you not; Guy Sebastian went from priority C to priority A within three songs.

It is late here in Austin as a write this so I won’t get into too much detail until we interview Guy tomorrow at the Aussie BBQ.

The song that fans will be interested to hear is “All To Myself”, the first single from the forthcoming album.

Watch a preview of the song from Sounds Australia at SXSW in Austin, Texas March 19, 2009 and we will follow-up with Ros O’Gorman’s photos from the showcase and the interview in coming days.

Love the snippett

prinia - April 22, 2009 08:58 PM (GMT)
DROM - love the venue - BUT! the weather was atrocious! Like, we had summer and winter in 3 days!

Prinnie changed out of her red hoodie into an empire linish tunish top, and hair down, and Guy was in his gear with the grey jacket with the heavy black finish.

We got (at least, but not in this order)

All to Myself
Like it Like That
Fail to Mention
Perfection
Just Bring Yourself
PRIVATE NUMBER with Prinnie :P - soooo Memphis! sooo much fun

Sweetest Berry'
I've Been Loving You

he finished with an encore of The Midnight Hour and Soul Man

Guy was on the guitar, and the cajun drum, and of course on the baby grand too

The place was pretty full by the time he'd finished and I have to say that THAT was amazing, as the weather was in short ATROCIOUS
absolutely truly atrocious. Dreadful, even.

And they cheered and clapped and whistled, got a great reception, there was another couple from Australia there too! Didnt meet up them because I guess they were keen to get home, but many went up to have photo taken.

We did that too, and hubby is really thrilled that he pointed us out as being there from Australia, the manager and 'mainman' wereboth impressed that we thought so highly of Guy that we had travelled all that way for a show (2 shows tho, just imagine, we get to have it all over again)

The audience really loved him, and there were many there that when he pointed out how bad the weather was, and how he appreciated those coming, who came - they yelled out, 'we wouldn't miss it' - isn't that great?

Jules looked lovely, grey layers, big pashmini scarf in silvery grey and black, black or dark grey coat.

Angela Barkan is SO a sweetie- anyone wishing to go, please twitter her. I hope we have more to do with her next week, it was just that the manager was such a sweetie to us, because we'd mentioned when we booked that we were coming all the way from Australia for him.

I think we may have made another fan here in the hotel, too (we're not far from 42nd street)
say the magic words Steve Cropper and/or Otis Redding and people are SO SO impressed!

The decor was dark, lots of art type posters, 'squished' cloth / paper lamps hanging from the ceiling, chains hanging from t he ceiling ph34r.gif blink.gif

just passing through, still in France but will be home by Mothers day :banana

couple more, but one (at the moment, until I return home from France) is as an upload

Here's the video from Jen_Iris

YouTube - Guy Sebastian - I've been loving you too long

and here's the upload
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9PIPL9L

for the last, Guy had a bit of hayfever at DROM in New York so he was saving his voice (he also went to Tom Hanks party later, so Im guessing he was REALLY saving his voice for better things, LOL) and so we got mainly the keyboard - because he had a new guitarist, Jack, that night.
