Local singer closes in on Australian Idol title
YOUNG Australian Idol hopeful Luke Dickens is one step closer to the Sydney Opera House after making it through to the final three contestants.
After scraping throu-gh the wild card round, Dickens has not looked back with some stellar performances making him a fan favourite and giving him a big chance at seizing the competition.
This Sunday night Dickens and his two remaining colleagues, Wes Carr and Mark Spano, will sing their choice as they battle it out in the second -last performance show.
The “singing shearer” gained a confidence boost after avoiding the bottom three last Sunday night.
Throughout the show Dickens has won praise from the judges and fans for his singing style and laid-back attitude, but received mixed comments after his performance of Creed’s With Arms Wide Open.
Dickens’ mother Cathy said her son was very grateful for the ongoing support from the Riverina.
“He was saying the other day that he’s blown away by how much support he has been getting, so many people have said they’re right behind us,” she said.
Monday’s verdict show will also present the first performance of the winner’s song before the final show on the steps of the Sydney Opera House on November 23.
