Natalie Gauci for 2009 Eurovision?

ESCMALTA.COM REPORTS

A lot of speculations are circulating in the Maltese Eurovision scene as some past Maltese ESC representatives are believed to be busy in the studios recording songs for the Eurosong 09. It seems that there are at least three past Maltese representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest that showed interest to submit songs in the next Maltese national selection and compete for the ticket to Moscow.

However close sources to ESCMALTA.com reported that winner of Australian Idol 2007, Natalie Gauci might be interested to try for the Eurovision Song Contest. Gauci who owns Maltese roots but born in Australia performed in the Maltese capital, Valletta last Saturday during the ‘Notte Bianca’ events.

Natalie Gauci performed in the interval act of this year’s national selection and also gave an interpretation of Malta’s Eurovision Song Contest entry ‘Angel’ along with Chiara who was one of the hosts of the show. These sources exclusively reported that Gauci is aiming to find a good song and submit it in the Maltese national selection with the target to reach the Eurovision Song Contest stage.

The Eurosong 09 regulations states that the singers must be Maltese or posses dual citizenship (one of them Maltese) however one can always try to sort things out (obtain Maltese citizenship) and yet manage to be eligible to participate in the national selection.

I think it was all a bit of rumour and speculation regarding Natalie Gauci and eurovision.

This out today.

Chiara wins Malta song contest for third time.

Chiara has won the Malta Eurosong with the song What If We, sailing through the contest with confident ease, wowing judges and audiences alike.
The 33-year-old singer has already won the local festival twice before, with The One That I love in 1998, and Angel in 2005. She went on to place third and then second in the Eurovision Song Contest. Malta is now pinning its hopes that she will do well in May’s Eurovision Song Contest, in Moscow.
Seeing her back on stage filled the crowd, crammed at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, in Ta’ Qali, with joy and she was the only singer to receive a standing ovation after her first performance.
Once she emerged as one of the three super finalists chosen by the jury, it was clear the public would choose Chiara through televoting. She earned 12, 249 points
Now that she has cleared the first step, Chiara will have another hurdle to surmount when she competes in the first semi-final in Moscow on May 12, to go on the final round.
Eleonor came in at second place with Some Day (Paul Giordimaina and Fleur Balzan), while Q, with the song Before You Walk Away (Paul Giordimaina and Fleur Balzan), placed third.
