YOUNG local Idol contestant Luke Dickens is looking like staying for some time to come.
Luke kicked off last Sunday’s performance show with the classic 80’s rock song ‘Jack and Diane’, originally performed by John Mellencamp.

Special guest judge Cyndi Lauper remarked that she thought that Luke was “an everyman kinda guy singing an everyman song” and that it was a very confident and comfortable performance.

“The judges' comments were all pretty good, which makes me happy because I’ve never really been judged before with music or anything,” Luke said on his online blog.

“I wanna hear their comments and I wanna get better. If people with experience want to tell me what to do, I’m going do it.”

Voting opens at the conclusion of the performance show on Sunday nights and closes at the beginning of the Monday night elimination show.

Voting re-opened during the Monday night show for the three performers who received the lowest number of votes concluding at 8pm that night.
