SHE'S already an idol in the eyes of Moranbah and Mackay, but tonight Brooke Schubert will be singing to grab her place in the top 12.
For the bubbly 22-year-old from Moranbah, singing has been a major part of her life, and father Lance Schubert is already so proud of his daughter.

"I'm thrilled Brooke has already made it so far I know she is going to be great (tonight)."

Mr Schubert and his son, Patrick, are so proud in fact, they're making the trek to Sydney to watch Brooke's live performance.

"I've watched so many performances when she was growing up, and I wouldn't dare miss what could be the most important performance of her life," her proud Dad said yesterday.

Coming from a country music background Mr Schubert said he wouldn't be surprised if Brooke belted out a modern country number for her performance.

"She (Brooke) is a big fan of modern country, the likes of Keith Urban have made American-style modern country far more popular," he said.

Tonight from 7.30 on Southern Cross Ten Brooke will "sing her little heart out" against five other idol-wanting competitors from across the country.

The Australian public will vote for their favourite performer via telephone and mobile SMS.

Moranbah residents are so keen to support Brooke that they have started a Facebook group supporting Brooke.

"We've already had 200 members join and it's only been a day," Tanya Withers said.

Only two competitors will make it to the final 12 each night, the result from Brookes heat will be announced on tomorrow night's show.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said there were some clear favourites to make it through to the Top 12 as well as some intriguing battles.

"Brooke is 6.50:1 so people really need to get behind her to see her competing for the idol crown.
