May 10 was a day that Yasmin Arkinstall will remember for the rest of her life.
The Glendenning schoolgirl, 12, not only saw a performance at Sydney Opera House for the first time but also met her idol, singer Anthony Callea.
Yasmin and her mum received tickets to Sydney Symphony Orchestra accompanying Callea who starred in Songs from the Movies at the Opera House.
A huge surprise was waiting where they also were invited to meet the 2004 Australian Idol runner-up backstage before his performance.
The tickets and backstage visit were organised by Minchinbury Manor at Rooty Hill.
Yasmin was recently the opening act at Minchinbury Manor's Senior Citizens Week concert, where her performance inspired the residents, guests and children from local schools.
``Yasmin delighted all who heard her when she performed at Minchinbury Manor, so with Anthony's support, Minchinbury Manor has been able to give Yasmin an experience she will always remember,'' Minchinbury Manors executive director Kerry Mann said.
Yasmin is well known in the community, performing regularly at the Cancer Council's Relay for Life, Carols By Candlelight, Blacktown Music Festival and the Education Expo.
