Callea's Big Gay Day at The Wickham Hotel on March 9

IT was less than a year ago that Anthony Callea was reluctantly thrust out of the closet. Now the out-and-proud cutie is showing no sign of going back in after it was announced he will headline Big Gay Day at The Wickham Hotel on March 9.

Ant, rumoured to be involved with Home And Away actor Tim Campbell, will be joined by an impressive guest line-up including ARIA nominee Kate Miller-Heidke, 90s pop sensation Melissa Tkautz and US diva sensation Martha Walsh from The Weather Girls.

Martha's hit, It's Raining Men, could be the theme of the annual party which is likely to provide Anthony with some potential suitors should the rumours surrounding he and Tim turn out to be a bust.

The odds will be good – more than 6000 people are expected to attend this year's event and organisers are chuffed to have secured the Australian Idol warbler who recently split from long-term boyfriend Paul Riggio.

Gay poster-boy Callea, who came out after his accidental on-air "outing" by a Sydney radio station last year, has since been a big campaigner for gay causes.

Big Gay Day, now in its eighth year, has raised more than $80,000 for support and counselling services for the gay and lesbian community.
