user posted imageAUSTRALIAN Idol's two finalists have hit back at judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson, declaring they are not boring.

Dickson, who was in the US this week promoting his new show The Great American Band, reportedly slammed contestants Matt Corby and Natalie Gauci as "beautiful but bloody boring".

He also described the pair as "pretty people with not a lot of personality".

But teenager Corby insinuated Dickson was on a power trip and said it was tough to hear a judge call him boring.

"I'm still young and I'm still sussing out exactly what I want to do, so it's very hard to hear stuff like that. When guys like Dicko come out of the woodwork it's not the nicest thing to hear," he said.

"But each to their own. If he wants to call us boring, that's his own call, everyone has their own opinion. Some people get on a power trip and think it's fine to discredit other people."

Corby said he would still shake Dickson's hand at the filming of Idol tonight.

"I always shake his hand," the 17-year-old said. "He always pretends like he's done nothing wrong. It's all good."

Melbourne's Gauci, 25, said Dickson made comments like this to make them talk about themselves publicly.

"I think Dicko's full of it," she said. "I'm so not boring and he knows that. This is why he does this. He says stuff like this to get stuff out of us, because he knows we're not boring people."

Gauci said being on TV meant she had to practise restraint.

"I have to be a little bit conservative . . . it's something I want to do as a career," she said.

Tonight, Corby and Gauci will perform three songs, including the winner's first single Here I Am, with the winner revealed at the Sydney Opera House next Sunday.
