THERE were no surprises when the final three of Australian Idol was chosen last night.

The NSW Central Coast's Marty Simpson was sent packing back to his home in Wamberal last night after seemingly always being on the edge of eviction.
Host Andrew G and Judge Ian Dickson last night jokingly likened Simpson's resilience to that of a cockroach.
"We are going to need a can of Mortein to get rid of him," Dickson said.
Natalie Gauci, Matt Corby and Carl Riseley are the final three contestants who will fight it out for a recording contract and a shot at international stardom.
After the verdict was announced and the goodbyes said, Marty sang the Doors classic Light My Fire, giving fans one last taste of his laid-back, smooth singing style.
"It was just unreal," Simpson said of his Idol experience.
