Title: Trouble for Carl

Rhonda - November 3, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Carl Riseley this week continues his amazing journey on Australian Idol. However, a real problem has emerged.

Many in the brass band community have been following the performances of cornet/trumpet player and vocalist, Carl Riseley on Australian Idol.

Touchdown

Carl gave two incredibly good performances on last Sunday nights show to be voted through by the Australian public to be one of the final five. So impressed was judge, Mark Holden, that he awarded the somewhat elusive 'touchdown'.

"Carl is really enjoying his time and is loving every minute."

~ Phil Riseley
The song Carl performed which sent many hearts fluttering was the Tom Jones classic, chosen by judge 'Dicko', "Its Not Unusual". Convincingly, Carl sang again later in the evening in solid style with his version of "Jealous Guy".

Proud Dad, Phil

There is not a prouder person at the moment than Carl's Dad - Phil. Phil was a cornet player with Woolston and most recently Brisbane Excelsior, as was Carl before he moved to Sydney to join the Navy several years ago.

Carl having a great time

Phil spoke with 4BRDU today and gave us some insight into Carl's experience. "Carl is really enjoying his time and is loving every minute. Occassionally times are tough - particularly having to deal with getting mobbed by girls everyday." Sure - tough?

Phil went on to say, "The personalites of the performers are very different but Carl gets on well with everyone. He was particularly sad last week when Daniel (Mifsud) was voted off as Daniel had become his best friend on the set."

Set Back

Carl has bigger problems however - a chest infection!

With only two days before the next televised performance, followed by an appearance at the Arias, Phil told 4BRDU that Carl is doing everything he possibly can to get better.

Don't forget to vote

All eyes will be on Carl again this week - 7.30pm Sunday evening on Channel 10. And of course, don't forget to SMS Carl to 191010 to register your vote to keep Carl in the competition.
