THE worst-kept secret in music is out -- Jessica Mauboy has been named the new Diva after seeing off another former Idol for the job.
Mauboy was unveiled as the replacement for Ricki-Lee Coulter at the Australian Idol concert in Federation Square yesterday.
She joined original Divas Kate DeAraugo, Paulini and Emily Williams on stage to perform.
Confidential believes that Mauboy wasn't the only singer seriously considered for the role -- former Idol winner Casey Donovan was also in the running.
"It was unbelievable," Mauboy said of getting the role. "The girls have been fantastic and have been like three big sisters."
The four have recorded most of their tracks for the new album, and a single will be chosen tomorrow.
Once again, it will be full of catchy covers.
Music sources said a solo career was still very much on the cards for Mauboy, but her management saw the Divas as a perfect learning curve about all that was positive and negative in the music industry.
