Leith trips up on steps

FIRST-week sales for last year's Oz Idol winner, Damien Leith, have not been strong.

In the combined physical and online charts, Leith managed just No. 11, with only 2816 physical sales for his single, 22 Steps.

In comparison, last year's single Night of My Life, went straight to No. 1 and sold more than 100,000 copies.

Where have all the fans gone?

The singles chart has fallen so dramatically, Fergie managed about 11,000 sales to be at No. 1 with Big Girls Don't Cry, while Rhianna had just 5000 for Umbrella.

But the new dad might pick up a few sales after a little Channel 10 cross-promotion when he performed his single on Neighbours yesterday.

As a wee lad in Ireland, Leith was a big Ramsay St fan.

The scene will air in October.

It will be the first of a run of "performances" lined up for the show's fictional Charlie's Bar.
