LISA Mitchell may have been bagged by the Australian Idol judges last year, but ever since has seen a queue of stars lining up to work with her.

Teen folk hero Lisa Mitchell will release her independent EP, Said One to the Other, next month after following British chart-topper Sandi Thom in performing four 30-minute gigs via the internet from her Albury back yard in March.

"My singing didn't suit the (Idol ) format, so I'm enjoying going in my own direction," the shy singer said.

Mitchell also revealed Bowditch sent her a letter while she was still part of the TV talent quest.

"She offered me advice... to take my time," Mitchell said.

"I didn't know her before and she's one of my favourite artists, so getting a letter from her was shocking -- amazing in a good way."

Mitchell said she wasn't keen on Ian "Dicko" Dickson's return to Idol.

"Everyone on the show gets enough criticism as it is," she said.

Meanwhile, Roxane Lebrasse has joined a growing list of Australian Idol singers that are glad they didn't win the show.

Lebrasse said she was very grateful for the experience in 2005, but was happy she had been allowed her freedom and not stuck to restricting contracts that were locked when the final 12 was decided.

"I learnt a lot from my time on Idol, like doing photo shoots and dealing with the media," she said.

"But I'm glad I've had the chance to develop my style and I'm happy with it."

Lebrasse will perform at the 5th Avenue winter party at Southbank's Australian Centre for Contemporary Art on Saturday night.
