And so the rumours turn out to be true. The Young Divas, who have been darlings of the gay scene since they formed a year ago and appeared at Mardi Gras in March, are on shaky ground with one of the quartet quitting the group.

Ricki-Lee Coulter has just officially left the Divas after rumours of bitchy in-fighting between her and the only member to actually win Idol, Kate DeAraugo.

Coulter has plans to get married later this year and is about to release a single. “I really had to get back to doing what I love doing and that’s my solo career,” she told the Daily Telegraph, insisting that the final split had been “amicable.”

The Young Divas were scheduled to support Westlife on their national Australian tour recently, but had to pull out when Coulter decided to head off to London, New York and LA to write songs for her solo album. Emily Williams’ sister, Livinia, stepped into Ricki-Lee’s shoes in subsequent shows and is expected to fill the gap so that the Diva’s can continue to stay on top of the charts.

It’s all rather Dreamgirls, isn’t it?
