Turns out Victoria is big enough for only one Idol, and it's Liam Styles Chang.
The Grade 11 student at St. Andrew's Regional High School is the only local to make the final 22 in this year's Canadian Idol.
Four singers from Vancouver Island emerged from more than 10,000 auditioners. Two were cut by judges during Monday's episode, leaving Chang and Port McNeill's Clifton Murray as the only Islanders still rubbing shoulders with Idol host Ben Mulroney.
Chang will show off the chops he's honed in local band T.A.W.G. when he competes live against this season's 10 male contestants. As usual, viewers can vote for their favourite karaoke superstar after the show.
Does Chang have stadium gigs or hall shows in his future? Next Wednesday's program reveals the results. Idol airs at 8 p.m. Monday on CTV.
