Title: Roxy squeezed by Sophie's song

BOTH Sophie Monk and Roxane Lebrasse are trying to Push It but it's the Australian Idol product who has been pushed to the back of the line by her record company Universal.

In an unfortunate clash, both girls have recorded different versions of the '80s disco anthem - with each track scheduled for national release this month.

While Monk's cover of the Salt'n'Pepa hit is purely a promotional tactic to boost sales of the Pleasure State biofit bra, Universal has pulled the pin on Lebrasse's sample of the song.

The label is concerned Monk's star power would push the ex-Idol contestant off the radar completely. Sadly for the up and coming singer, Lebrasse's track - titled Sexy - was just weeks away from being shipped to the nation's music stores.

"It's a case of coincidence but it just wasn't a level playing field, it would have been unfair to put Roxane up against the huge campaign that's behind Sophie Monk,'' a Universal spokeswoman said yesterday.

"We have put the song on hold for now but it probably won't be released at all.''

Mixed in LA with the help of rockstar boyfriend Benji Madden, Monk performed her version of the pop hit at a star- studded event to launch the Biofit bra at Catalina, Rose Bay, last night.

As the track is only available with purchase of the bra through Myer and cannot be bought in a record store, Monk's manager Yoon Kim said she didn't think that it should have affected Lebrasse.

"To be honest we had no idea about it, but I wouldn't think it would be an issue as Sophie's song is just for commercial purposes,'' Kim said.
