Looks like Anne is a popular choice :)
Rhonda - December 16, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
I liked Anne at the beginning of Idol. I really didnt like her shy act I think it went way too far. But I loved her voice in the first few weeks.
At the end off the series she was playing with the song waaaaaaaay too much.
The judges call it vocal gymnastics and it sounded terrible. You could hardly understand what she was singing if you didnt know the song.
So if she just went back to singing i would buy her music in an instant.

Hey Rhonda, :D
See, that is a right bugbear with me and no doubt with the comments i am about to make I will get pelted with rotten fruit by Emily's fans..lol but I find it a little biased that when Emily was oversinging a song, it was considered by the judges as "starting at 11 with no where to go but brilliant" (just paraphrasing one of the cheesy comments made by Moldy Holden), but when Anne added melisma (less than Emily in most cases) they said she was oversinging and playing with it too much! Anne has natural vibrato in her voice, so the melisma comes easy with it, unlike Emily who forces vibrato and uses melisma technique to TRY and sustain a scale of "moneynotes"...
JMO, but a learned one.
Oh I chose Anne and Natalie, BTW! lol :P

Tracee I agree with you 100%.
I am one of the very few people who didnt enjoy listening to Emily at all.
I think she is talented, gosh i cant sing at all but I felt she screamed her high notes and didnt sing them at all and along with the gymnastics and the audience goading mark into undeserved touchdowns.
I really liked both Anne and Emily in the first few weeks but then they just tried tooooooo hard.
Please understand that this is just my opinion, and is in no way a hit against either artist personally. I respect them as artists making music.

I am with you 100%!! In fact regarding the whole TD thing, I believe that the only person to get one this series that actually deserved, it was Dan E with Desperado. He sang it beautifully.
Any other song that got Marks arm spinning was mediocre in my opinion and undeserving.
Close to everyone in the final 13 had their own merits as vocalists, so like you, my comments are not a personal attack on any performer, but merely one from a technical level.

ewwwwwww Tracee :hysterical Darryl Braithwaite was ok though.... I felt like that about John Farnham and Barnsy years ago and it hasn't changed even now lol.:hysterical.... Oh I also liked Jon Bon Jovi and David Lee Roth
Jen21 - December 17, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
I voted for 3 of them - didn't know you could do that in a poll...
I would probably buy an album by Anne, Emily and/or Dan, maybe even Roxie. I think that the singing on Idol 3 was really great compared to last season, and the talent was seriously under-rated by the public. :D
