Geyer leaves Myer wondering
May 03, 2007
MELBOURNE pin-up Dean Geyer left organisers of a model search contest in the lurch yesterday by cancelling his judging commitments at the eleventh hour.
The Australian Idol singer was booked four weeks ago to help choose the Victorian face of the Myer Miss Shop competition.
His role was heavily advertised as a drawcard to get young girls to the Bourke St store event.
Fellow Idol -er Ricky Muscat was a last-minute replacement, getting a call the night before about the gig.
Myer was told by Geyer's management that recording commitments were to blame for the singer's snub and was surprised to learn he was shooting a Berri juice TV commercial in North Caulfield instead.
Perhaps he could squeeze out more money from starring in the ad, which saw him team up with his Idol grads, Jessica Mauboy and the Young Divas.
Muscat is working on his debut single in a South Melbourne studio with the man behind the Young Divas.
And congrats to Gretta Addison, 18, of Blackburn, who won the Victorian final and will head to the national finals in Sydney in August
