Idol's Lisa fall into net

AUSTRALIAN Idol teen folk hero Lisa Mitchell is launching her solo career with Australia's first MySpace residency.

Unable to pay her dues on the pub circuit while finishing high school in her Albury hometown, Mitchell will follow in British chart-topper Sandi Thom's footsteps and perform live via the Internet, Kathy McCabe reports.

"(Idol) gave me a much appreciated place to start but now I am happily moving on in my own direction and at my own pace,'' she said yesterday.

Mitchell will perform 30 minute sets from her backyard on the first Wednesday of each month starting on March 7 at 8pm.

Hopefully Mitchell's effort to kickstart her career via the cyber airwaves will be more successful than Thom, who has joined the one-hit wonder brigade with her debut single I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker.
