AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Casey Donovan is doing a Dolly Parton, working 9 to 5 as a receptionist to help fund her music career.
Since being dumped by Sony BMG in July last year, Donovan has been forced to pay her own way in the professional music world.
She started a new gig behind the desk of a Sydney medical centre this week.
Enjoying none of the benefits of her signed reality TV cohorts, the talented singer has had to fork out for six months of studio time while working on her independent EP, as well as covering all her own touring costs.
But Donovan insists being part of the workforce helps keep her grounded.
"It's good. It keeps me busy and allows me to get back to normality," she said.
"But it definitely makes me want a career in music even more."
That's really nice... good on you, Casey. :) :D
 Good for Casey! By going Indie at least she will do her own music style. Her friend Hayley Jensen self funded her debut EP 'Alive'.
Maybe Hayles gave her some good advice.
