Getting ‘a taste of fame’ - on video

Senior students from Jenny’s Dance Centre in Marsfield recently tasted fame after appearing in a music video called “Love 2 Love”, for former Australian Idol contestant James Kannis.
“It was a great experience and the students got a buzz watching themselves dance on video hits,” said principal Jenny Engelmann.
Apart from appearing on television some of the centre’s senior students are also employed, working as paid professionals with Rob Neil’s ‘Jukebox Live’ on 2WSFM.
The centre’s ever-popular “hip hop” classes have returned and Jenny says it’s important for students to be exposed to current dance trends.
The dance centre has had an exceptional year, says Jenny, with examination students gaining top results - “100 per cent pass marks with distinction”.
In competitions held throughout Sydney, the 8/u, 10/u and 15/u eisteddfod groups did well winning many prizes, as did soloists.
Student Stephanie Soh was a major scholarship award winner last year and minor scholarship winners were Lillie Edgar, Adriance Pielak, Audrey Badaoui, Isabel Mc-Kenzie and Sarah Breden.
Students have state-of-the-art facilities, air conditioning, mirrors, tarkett dance flooring, video playback facilities, new toilets and coming soon, says Jenny, a new kitchen and change room.
Jenny’s Dance has classes for all ages with varying levels of difficulty, from pre schoolers to adults, beginners to advanced, right through to professional level. The centre offers a comprehensive list of classes including: classical ballet, tap, jazz/funk, hip hop, contemporary, singing, drama, performance/stage-craft, eisteddfod and examination work.
