As the soulful Lavina Williams exited the Idol studios after tonight’s heartbreaking verdict, the warm character was positive, promising to build on a career that is sure to improve after months of Idol training and exposure.

The mood was surprisingly buoyant backstage as Lavina said her final goodbyes, flanked by family, friends and well-wishers. In an Idol series that has been dominated by the songwriters who have brought a totally new vibe to the competition, Lavina was one of two divas to make it through to the Top 12. Despite the obvious disappointment of leaving Idol HQ, the vivacious vocalist was already looking to the future.
“My plan is to keep on gigging,” the ambitious singer told the Australian Idol website. “I’ve got a few opportunities that have come my way. That’s what I’ve got to do now. I have to focus on getting a record deal and I’m going to be recording some of my own material”.
As she embraced the remaining 7 contestants Lavina was quick to thank her supporters who have been a force to reckon with online, lending plenty of support to Lavina on the Idol forums.
“To my hardcore fans,” Lavina insisted, “my message is this: you haven’t seen the best of me yet!”
