Lavina leaves Idol
October 09, 2006
THE soulful sounds of Lavina Williams have not struck a chord with the Australian public, with the New South Wales diva tonight becoming the latest singer voted off Australian Idol.
The New Zealand born 29-year-old, whose sister Emily was runner-up in the last series, was kicked off following her performance last night of the Emotions' track Best Of My Love.
She polled the lowest votes of the eight contestants, with West Australia's Chris Murphy and Victorian Ricky Muscat also in the bottom three.
Despite losing out, Williams remained upbeat after the verdict was read.
"I am going to leave the show, but this has been a great experience for me and I'll never forget it," Williams said on stage.
"It's a journey that anybody who has underground talent should come and try out."
Seven contestants remain in the reality television series.
