THERE’S a new Australian Idol in the England household – she’s 52cm long, weighs 3.6kg and is still testing out her vocal chords.
Jane Thompson, wife of Maroochy councillor Chris Thompson gave birth to the happy couple’s first child on Tuesday – a little girl named Seanna Jane.
Little Seanna doesn’t know it yet but among her adoring fans is Jane’s younger brother Dan, last year’s Australian Idol finalist.
Seanna is far more interested in having a snooze than wondering what her uncle may be up to.
“She sleeps all the time,” said mum Jane.
Seanna is the first grandchild in the England household and has the attention of all the family.
But none more so than proud dad, Chris, who was with Jane throughout her “18 hours of labour”.
As a councillor, Chris is used to making speeches but the amazement of watching Seanna come into the world has almost left him speechless.
“It was just amazing; it’s the most incredible thing a person can do. It’s the greatest thing in the world,” he said.
“I now have a different level of admiration of a new mother for what they go through.”
While Dan was one of the highlights at the couple’s wedding last December, singing a song for his sister, he has had to take a back seat since the arrival of Seanna.
“Both Jane’s two brothers and my two brothers came over to see her yesterday and each had a turn nursing her,” Chris said.
