Now that I’ve seen and heard Jessica Mauboy’s Disco performance, I genuinely believe that it’s 1977. More than any other performer, Jess has bottled the disco vibe. Jess turns to Kyle with more than a touch of apprehension after his many style-centric comments. “From some sad looking bush frump,” he says, remarking on her journey, “to someone who could sell a lot of records internationally”. I think that’s Kyle’s strange way of saying that approves of Jess’ look tonight.
