Lyndelle’s still our idol

By Blythe Seinor AFTER performing live on national television in front of two million people, you’d think Lyndelle Palmer-Clark’s butterflies would have flown out the window.
But the Australian Idol semi-finalist admitted to a few nerves when she hit the Sunshine Plaza yesterday, with some of her original tunes.

It was the first time she had performed on the Coast since appearing on the Channel 10 show in September, and it was also the first time she’d sung her new songs.

“It felt great to be able to do my originals live and test them out on a real audience,” she said. “I think it went over really well.

The Sunshine Coast local was knocked out before making it into the illustrious Final 12 of the hit TV show, but locals aren’t quick to forget her moment in the spotlight.

Hordes caught her show at the Main Stage yesterday, with many lining up to get their T-shirts and notebooks signed. Lyndelle was adamant that she’d use her fame to boost her singing career, possibly moving to Sydney or Melbourne.

“I don’t want to go because I love Queensland,” she said.

“I just feel that there are more opportunities in the music industry down there.”

With a background in acting, Lyndelle said she was also considering television hosting roles.

“I’ve just been talking to my agent and seeing what opportunities open up,” she said.

She said her time on Australian Idol had also helped to cure a bad case of writer’s block, which had plagued her for the past 12 months.

“Now I’m writing one or two songs every day, I’m penning lots of lyrics and recording melodies,” she said.
