AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Casey Donovan approached Channel Ten to become a part of the upcoming series of The Biggest Loser - but it appears the network has turned the singer down.

With just one month until shooting starts and with 14 contestants chosen from a massive 10,000 entrants Australia-wide, Donovan is yet to receive a phone call and concedes she isn't one of the chosen 14.

"We haven't had a call from Ten so I suppose it's not something Casey is involved in then,'' Donovan's step father and manager Norm Axford said yesterday.

However Donovan - who was heavily criticised for her excessive weight during the Australian Idol series she won two years ago - was well on her way to her own weight loss regime having quit smoking seven weeks ago and gradually easing her way into excercise, he said.

"Casey knows she's overweight and she's working towards a goal.

"She's snorkelling on a regular basis, she was bowling last night and had a game of golf last week - we're getting there slowly.''

A channel Ten spokeswoman said Donovan "did express interest in losing weight through the show as she's a big fan'' but the network was "not sure where she got with the audition process.''

All the contestants had been chosen and were currently going through their final medical testing before signing on the dotted line for the show, she said.

None were celebrities or known identities, she added.

Just heard from Leigh, a Casey fan who visits CU occasionally, that the whole story was made up by the reporter...just shows you that you can't believe everything you read!!

But Im also glad she wont be doing it in front of the public

Yeah, they did make it up! Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read in the Newspaper.

I was talking to Casey's step-dad and he said Casey did get a couple of calls from newspapers asking if she was going to be a contestant in 'Biggest Loser', but he took the first call and he said that he didn't know anything about it & Casey had not been approached. He told them that she had given up smoking and they are concentrating on Casey changing her lifestyle and not focus on diet - that they are taking a long term & permanent approach, no quick fixes. Then Casey got a call & she said the same thing.

So basically the newspaper just made it up that she wanted to go on the Biggest Loser - they'd make up anything for a story.

Oh, and Casey actually found it quite amusing that they would make up a story like that.
