AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Casey Donovan approached Channel Ten to become a part of the upcoming series of The Biggest Loser - but it appears the network has turned the singer down.
With just one month until shooting starts and with 14 contestants chosen from a massive 10,000 entrants Australia-wide, Donovan is yet to receive a phone call and concedes she isn't one of the chosen 14.
"We haven't had a call from Ten so I suppose it's not something Casey is involved in then,'' Donovan's step father and manager Norm Axford said yesterday.
However Donovan - who was heavily criticised for her excessive weight during the Australian Idol series she won two years ago - was well on her way to her own weight loss regime having quit smoking seven weeks ago and gradually easing her way into excercise, he said.
"Casey knows she's overweight and she's working towards a goal.
"She's snorkelling on a regular basis, she was bowling last night and had a game of golf last week - we're getting there slowly.''
A channel Ten spokeswoman said Donovan "did express interest in losing weight through the show as she's a big fan'' but the network was "not sure where she got with the audition process.''
All the contestants had been chosen and were currently going through their final medical testing before signing on the dotted line for the show, she said.
None were celebrities or known identities, she added.
