THE screams could be heard all the way up Flinders St this afternoon as this year's Australian Idol finalists hit Federation Square.
Thousands packed the square for the annual Grand Final concert, which also featured Guy Sebastian, The Young Divas, Marcia Hines and Mark Holden.
The Idols sang two songs as a group to the audience, some who were at Federation Square as early as 8am to get front row seats.
After the concert they then headed to the MCG for a dress rehearsal for Saturday's big game, where they will sing Waltzing Matilda.
Werribee local Ricky Muscat, himself a footy player, couldn't hide his excitement.
"It's crazy," he said.
"To sing at the MCG in front of the crowd, it's going to be a moment that will last forever."
As well as Muscat, Fellow Melbourne boy Dean Geyer received the loudest cheers from the huge crowd.
Geyer is so glad to be back home.
"I've never been out of home for so long away from my family, so I can't wait to catch up," he said.
The Idols will head to a grand final party Channel 10 is throwing with the AFL at Eureka Tower tonight, before more rehearsals tomorrow.
