Dean's virgin hopes

AUSTRALIAN Idol's top 12 contestants believe natural talent and looks will decide this year's winner.

But Dean Geyer said he hoped being a virgin would get him some more votes.

The group held a joint press conference in Sydney yesterday, and the pretty boy whose own idol is devout Christian Guy Sebastian said he would never deliberately use his virginity to take out the title.

But he was not concerned by people knowing about it.

Every contestant agreed that first impressions matter more than anything in the lead-up to the first week of performances to be aired live on Sunday.

The contestants were looking at songs that would showcase who they really were.

Bobby Flynn said his choice would be a "surprise", while Guy "Mutto" Mutton said his song would get the crowd going.

Lavina Williams admitted getting some inside tips from younger sister Emily, last year's runner-up.

She said she was not fazed by criticism from judge Kyle Sandilands about her weight.

"Being bigger means voluptuous in my eyes," she said.

It seems there's a glut of Idol Virgins ...first Guy, then Dan O'Connor and now Dean...don't times change!

Once upon a time a man would try to hide the fact, now it's proudly proclaimed...good on them.
