Top 12 2004 Contestant Angie Narayan has released her debut album "Undeniable". The exy soul mama performed songs from the much anticipated album on Oxford Street, Sydney, & god did she sound good!
I had the very lucky oppurtunity to meet & interview Angie after the launch. Heres what she had to say!
Since Australian Idol in 2004, What have you been up to Angie?
Pretty much we have been writing music & putting the CD together, Its taken all this time!(ha ha) We have also been collaborating with other artists with music ideas. We will be touring New Zealand & Australia very soon so keep an eye out for us.
What should we expect to see with the release of your debut album "Undeniable"?
People will be shocked I think. The album has a Rock-Soul Genre which people didn't see that side of me on Australian Idol. A few of my songs have that bad girl attitude & some have closer meaning to me. I hope you all love it as much as I do
What advice would you give to people who wish to break into the music industry?
The Music Industry is a very hard industry to break into. If you dont have a full love for music, Its hard to get into it although if you persist & deal with the bad stuff that comes your way anything is achievable. Definitely prepare for the hardyards. I am very grateful to all that have helped me to where I am today
Who are your idols?
Well Aretha Frankling is my top favourite but I also like artists like Whitney Houston, Beyonce & CC Wynan. They have a certain style which I like about them.
Im curious, How far do you think you could have went if you didn't get eliminated in the first round?
At first I didn't think I was going to even make it into the Top 12 to be honest so I am thankful I got as far as I did. Who knows how far I could have gotten?(ha ha)
All in all it was an awesome night!! Indeed Angie has shown Queerplanet why she was one of the best Idols in Australian Idol History. I highly advise people who love Angie or love Soulful-Rock to get out there & support her because she is indeed an upcoming new talent within the Australian Music Industry & will be a hit with one & all!
Many thanks go to Angie Narayan for letting us interview her at such a busy time, Chris Thorpe for organising the interview, media releases & all around assisting in this interview & Sue Brumby for letting Queerplanet be there for the launch of Angie's CD!
