Chad Doucette credits his family for instilling his tremendous drive and creating a focus for music in his life. "All credit should go back to them!" he says. "Without them I would not be the musically- oriented and hard working person that I am today."

Having made the Top 48 previously on Canadian Idol in 2005, Chad was absolutely ecstatic about being selected to this year's Top 22. "I jumped and hugged and did whatever my body wanted to. It was a moment I will never forget."

A Grade 12 student at Eastern Shore District High School, Chad is a grocery store clerk who hopes to study journalism in university. He channels his creativity by playing the piano and after writing his first song, Chad realized what he was capable of accomplishing. "The reactions I got from my friends and family were amazing."

Chad would love to meet Johnny Cash. "He went through so much in his lifetime and I believe that he actually understands what a 'true' musician is," he says.

However, he also feels that Kelly Clarkson is a perfect example of someone he can "idolize." "She used the competition as a stepping stone and always stayed true to herself in the end," he says. "I will always stay true to me and what I want to accomplish in music."

Chad can be found eating his favourite food, pizza, while cheering on the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Blue Jays. His favourite movie is Crash and his favourite TV series is 24. In addition to playing baseball, basketball, rugby and badminton, Chad likes to curl, golf and play tennis.

Chad feels the song that best describes him is Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy."

Chad Doucette - "The Other Man"

Ok - I admitted in last week's review that I wasn't too crazy about Chad at first. But he just keeps winning me over. This is one of the best songs to ever come out of Canadian Indie Rock (in my opinion), and with the advice he received from Nelly, a slower pace gave Chad more of an opportunity to show off his emotion, and his connection to the song. BUT, I felt it needed more grit. It was too soft, and too - umm, the only word I can think to describe it is "round". It needed a few sharp edges in there. But still a great song choice.
