How do you maintain your voice?
Honey.
If you couldn't sing, which talent would you most like to have?
Drawing! I cannot draw for nuts and I adore artists who can just squiggle a person without having it look like a stick-man.
When was the first time you performed?
Poetry Slam gig at Velvet Underground.
Which album would your friends be surprised you own?
Britney Spears. Her first album…. But it was a gift though, really….
If you were to describe yourself with one song, what would it be, and why?
Radiohead’s Paranoid Android. I think I think too much sometimes.
Name your comfort food(s).
Caramel / toffee based chocolates, milk with honey and lastly, chicken, cooked any way.
What is the dish that would best describe your personality, and why?
Not exactly dish, more like dessert. It’s Crème Brule. Its exterior is hard and crunchy but the interior is delicate and tender. Go figure.
List some things you are good at doing.
The Australian and British accent (well, I try), naming the capitals of countries, presenting for TV/Radio, photography, Salsa dancing, singing and accompanying myself on the piano.
Tell us 3 things that we don’t know about you.
I speak French, I love sharing lame jokes and I want to bring Nightmare Before Christmas on Broadway.
What external qualities do you look for in a guy?
Deep intense eyes for me to get lost in. Nice teeth. Oh, he must smell nice.
Which is the most memorable thing you’ve ever done for your dad/mum?
I wrote a poem for my mum once when I was younger and she cried non-stop reading it.
What is your fondest childhood memory?
Playing imaginary games with my siblings. We were never fans of toys (eg Barbie Dolls) so we resorted to our imagination and came up with new games everyday.
What is your worst childhood memory?
I hated Kindergarten! I cried everyday before I went to school and I can’t even remember why. Hmm…
What is your most prized possession, and why?
My 11-year-old cat, Simba. She’s my shadow and my biggest confidant.
Who makes you nervous? Why?
My loved ones. They are my biggest critics and I’d really hate to disappoint them. I find it so hard to sing in front of them!
What made you join this competition?
In the beginning, I wanted to prove myself wrong and see how far I could go. But now, being so close to the end, I never realised how badly I wanted to be the next idol to represent Singapore and to follow suit Taufik and all his great achievements. I dreamt of being a star as a child and believed that one day, it will come true. It has thus far.
Who helped you the most in the course of this competition?
My friends have given me endless support and my family as well. My brother and my sister are my number one cheerleaders and they help me out with my selection of songs/image.
Tell us why you deserve to be the next Singapore Idol.
Do I really want this? Yes. Did I work hard for it? Yes. I still am. Do I have talent? Yes, I do. Do I have what it takes? With the right help, I will. Am I ready for the changes? I think so, yes. Do I think that I can make a difference in the lives of people around me? I would like to believe so, yes. So do I deserve to be the next idol? Definitely, Yes.
What are some things you have learnt from this competition?
That it is hard to impress when you’ve had only 2 hours of sleep, or less.
If you win, whom would you thank first?
Of course the fans who voted for me lah! Followed by the judges, my family and friends for all the support they have given me throughout the entire journey.
