Warbling waif Cosima De Vito is touring Australia with Greek legend Demis Roussos and has announced her sophomore release.
De Vito has spoken to Brisbane’s Courier-Mail about her plans to follow up the nascent success of her 2004 album ‘Cosima’, which sold Gold and went all the way to number 2 on the Australian charts, led by her Chisel cover ‘When The War Is Over’.
After separating from her manager, who she said was steering her towards Celine Dion-esque histrionic ballads, De Vito noted, "I've learnt to trust what's within me instead of asking other people what they think. I've grown a great deal in the last two years as an artist and a person."
She has been working on her second album since late 2005, and it was planned for release in 2006 but has been pushed back to early 2007. She plans to ensure the songs represent her life more than the debut album did. She told the newspaper. "I love powerful ballads, but I want to do a lot of tracks that are more uplifting. The first album was pretty much slow, so this album won't be done that exact way."
