ROBERT Millsy" Mills has fled Australia, forced out of the country because the public won't leave him alone about his one-night stand with Paris Hilton.

It has been almost three years since Millsy was photographed kissing the $400 million party princess after spending the night with her in a Sydney hotel.

The event was one night in a lifetime of flings for the heiress – but, while she has moved on via countless Millsies since, the former Idol can't walk into a pub or shop without a cheap shot about the affair.

"He's gone overseas for a year, really to get away from the public," Millsy's mum Bronwyn told Confidential yesterday.

"People just refer to him as the guy who had the romance with Paris Hilton – but he just wishes it had never happened."

Millsy successfully pursued the party princess while she was here with sister Nicky for the 2003 Melbourne Cup and their relationship was consummated at Sydney's Quay Grand hotel following the Matrix Revolutions premiere.

The famous "morning after" shot – featuring Hilton and Millsy pashing on the hotel balcony – was captured by one of Confidential's photographers.

"He has to live with it and he knows that, but right now he needs a break," Mrs Mills said.

Despite securing a record contract with BMG in 2004, the Idol graduate has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts to crack the big time and has spent the past four months playing on the Melbourne pub circuit.

Currently in Koh Samui, Thailand, Millsy will then head to the UK before continuing his working holiday in North America.
