ABBOTSLEIGH students gave 2005 Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo a special vote of thanks when she visited their school last week.
The Idol winner is one of the stars who will appear in the inaugural upper North Shore Autumn Beats Music and Food Festival on March 19 to raise funds for overseas orphanages.
Making the presentation, Year 12 student and vice head prefect (Service) Jenny Sharp said that Kate's involvement with the festival is appreciated.
``Artists around the world, including U2's Bono and Sir Bob Geldorf, have used music as a way to draw attention to world issues and Kate DeAraugo's participation in our festival will do the same,'' she said.
Other big names to appear at the March 19 festival will include Australian rock icon Richard Clapton, jazz maestro John Morrison, performance artists CODA, South American guitarists Martinez, the Rory O'Donoghue Quartet and the ABC's ``Thin Arthur'' from Aunty Jack.
Another highlight will be a Battle of the Bands with bands from Barker College and Ku-ring-gai Performing Arts High School.
International food stalls, wine tasting, children's rides, arts and crafts stalls will be other features of the festival to be held in the school grounds, noon to 6pm, of Abbotsleigh senior school, cnr Ada Avenue and the Pacific Highway, Wahroonga.
